Wasn't it oh, so great, the way we tumbled and gasped?
If those moments had extended for eternity,
To never part and give way for the air to rush inside
Until we melted together, suffocated and died,
Wouldn't it have been an even grander affair?
Stinging like salt, as we lashed each other's wounds
And licked them clean, in the joy of our union.
It was more important than the moon, and the sun ceased to matter.
Shooting our weapons, shot rang throughout each night
The last proud tigress lost her footing, and fell into dispair.
While extinction seemed to be forthcoming, they all turned their eyes away.
I wish you'd turn your eyes away.
Those days faded, like dew in the morning warmth,
Burning away the embers of you that cling to the rest of my soul.
Heartless, it's better off that I am left behind.
Because my steps faultered, I couldn't keep up.
Because I did nothing wrong.
I'm safe in that knowledge.
Time rolls on; people move on too...
The dance still continues, the desperate clinging, the gasps for breath,
Only now the restless dizziness, and wide-awake nights have nothing to do with you.
Citizens carry on, and they'll never guess a thing.
The one last secret, trampling the dust, I hold it all in,
Because there is no pain, only memories, and what we take from this experience.
Only the joy from the knowledge that the fire inside us sets us apart, no matter what happens.
But wasn't it lovely, that time long ago?
And wouldn't you go back, even for one minute, if you could?

I can barely recall, but it's all coming back to me now.
